IKIGAI

Ikigai is your "value of life" or "a reason for living," symbolizing what makes life worthwhile and meaningful. It is the foundation to defining your Life’s Purpose.

Your Ikigai  生き甲斐 is composed of two Japanese kanji:

  1. 生き (Iki): This kanji means "life" or "to live."

  2. 甲斐 (Gai): This kanji means "worth", "value", or "benefit."

Aligning your passions, skills, purpose, and income through the Ikigai framework leads to a fulfilling, purpose-driven life that benefits both you and the world.

Your life is driven by four essential elements: What You Love, What You’re Good At, What the World Needs, and What You Can Be Paid For. At their intersections — Passion, Mission, Vocation and Profession — the central overlap of all four elements is your Ikigai — the essence of a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Steps to Outline the Ikigai Framework for Yourself

1) What You Love:

• Reflect on activities, hobbies, or topics that bring you joy and fulfillment.

• Example: "I love empowering others, designing luxurious experiences, and integrating personal growth practices."

2) What You’re Good At:

• List your natural talents, acquired skills, and areas where you excel.

• Example: "I’m skilled at coaching, luxury lifestyle design, and trend-setting in wellness."

3) What the World Needs:

• Identify global or local issues you feel passionate about solving or improving.

• Example: "The world needs tools for inner transformation, sustainable wellness practices, and empowered communities."

4) What You Can Be Paid For:

• Consider ways to monetize your passions and skills.

• Example: "I can monetize coaching, wellness retreats, and real estate development with a focus on lifestyle design."

Enhanced Framework for Self-Application

To outline your personal Ikigai, use these actionable prompts:

1) Map Each Quadrant:

• Write a separate list for What You Love, What You’re Good At, What the World Needs, and What You Can Be Paid For in a notebook or digital document.

• Look for overlaps or intersections between these lists.

2) Ask Key Questions:

• What excites me most about my passions?

• How can I leverage my skills to create impact and income?

• Where does my purpose align with societal needs?

3) Set Actionable Goals:

For each quadrant, create 1-2 actionable goals. For example:

Passion: Spend an hour daily on an activity you love.

Mission: Volunteer or contribute to a cause that resonates with you.

Vocation: Explore ways to monetize a skill or service.

Profession: Identify a new skill to enhance career opportunities.

Better Utilizing the Ikigai Framework

Integrate Periodic Reviews: Revisit your Ikigai framework every 3-6 months to reflect on progress and adjust as needed.

Seek Feedback: Share your framework with trusted peers or mentors to gain insights and refine your approach.

Use Visual Tools: Adapt the Ikigai graphic into a personal vision board to stay motivated.
